Expert Reviews on Heated Gear & Tech
Ask anyone who’s stood on scaffolding at 7am in January what the worst part of the job is, and cold hands beat almost everything else on the list. A heated jacket for construction workers is a garment with built-in carbon fibre or copper heating elements, powered by a rechargeable battery or USB power bank, designed … Read more
A hi vis heated gilet promises a very specific thing: core warmth from a battery, without sacrificing the sleeveless freedom of movement a trade bodywarmer needs, and ideally without losing the visibility that a site risk assessment demands. It’s worth being upfront about something before we go further: a single garment that is simultaneously EN … Read more
Standing on site at 6am in February, watching your breath fog up while you wait for feeling to return to your fingers, is the exact moment a hi vis heated jacket stops sounding like a gimmick and starts sounding like common sense. In short, a hi vis heated jacket combines certified high-visibility fabric and reflective … Read more
There’s a particular kind of cold that only exists inside a steel-and-plywood box parked on a muddy compound in January. It creeps in through the floor, it settles in your knees, and no amount of tea makes it budge. If you’ve ever tried to fill in a delivery ticket with fingers too numb to grip … Read more
Nobody does their best brickwork with numb fingers. A fan heater for construction site use is exactly what it says on the tin, an electric heater tough enough to survive being kicked across a concrete floor, dropped off a pallet, and still switch on the next freezing Monday morning. Unlike the flimsy plastic thing you … Read more
There’s a particular kind of cold that only exists on a British building site in January — the sort that gets into your boots, sits in your knuckles, and makes a fourteen-year-old cordless drill feel like it’s plotting against you. A propane forced air heater is the tool that ends that argument. Point it, light … Read more
Nobody warns you about this bit when you start in construction: your hands stop working before your brain does. Somewhere around the third hour of a January groundworks job, your fingers go from “cold” to “useless,” and suddenly threading a bolt feels like doing surgery in oven gloves. A decent propane heater for construction site … Read more
Anyone who’s stood in a half-finished building in February, watching their breath fog up faster than the brew in their flask cools down, knows the problem with heating a construction site. Direct-fired heaters are cheap and powerful, but they pump combustion fumes straight into the air you’re breathing, which is a non-starter the moment people, … Read more
There’s a stubborn British myth that site workers are somehow impervious to cold — that a flask of tea and a hi-vis vest is all anyone needs when it’s 3°C at 7am on a wind-lashed development in Yorkshire. The reality, of course, is rather different. Cold workers are slow workers. Slow workers make mistakes. Mistakes … Read more
It’s January. You’ve got a plasterer arriving Monday, screed on the ground floor that needs a fortnight to cure, and a house with no central heating, no insulation in half the walls, and a kitchen that’s currently a pile of timber and hope. Sound familiar? Finding the right space heater for an unfinished house is … Read more
